On Friday December 16th with family beside her a wonderful mother, grandmother. and great grandmother passed away quietly on her own terms at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie. Barbara Elizabeth Martin was born on August 19th 1931, just outside of London, England. The family moved to Canada in 1948 and settled in Barrie. Mom was predeceased by her parents Eric Kitchener and Ada Harrison Kitchener, her sister Shirley Hanning and Shirley's husband George. She was also predeceased by her beloved husband Vernon C. Martin (1987). Left to mourn her loss are her eldest daughter Carol (late Terry 2022) their children Christopher, his wife Krista, and three great grandsons, Liam, Evan and Aaron, youngest son Eric, and his wife Leanne. Youngest daughter Lynn, her husband Peter, and their son Colin. Mom was survived by her brother Nigel, and his family and her late sister's daughter Margaret Beausoleil and her family. The family would like to thank all the healthcare providers at RVH Oncology and the amazing staff at Hospice Simcoe. They are truly angels on earth. There will be a Celebration of life held at Grace United Church on Grove Street in Barrie, at 11am on Saturday January 14th. In lieu flowers, donations to Hospice Simcoe would be appreciated by the Family.
