Obituary for Paulette Jollineau (Gratton)

JOLLINEAU, Paulette
of Springwater township (Utopia), passed away peacefully at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie on Monday, January 16th 2023, in her 77th year,
following a sudden discovery and diagnosis of late stage cancer.
Paulette was born in Ottawa, and being an army child, moved many times, making lasting friendships in every city. She met the love of her life, Joel Jollineau in 1963 and was married on May 2, 1964. Underway in married life, they were soon
blessed with a family of four beautiful daughters, Jeanine,
Margaret (deceased 2005), Charlene (Campbell) and Marilyne (Carrey).
Army wives know how important community is and so her friend network continued to grow while she held a wide range of part-time jobs, from being a Line Worker for Essex Wire in London, to Drug Store Manager in Blackburn Hamlet. She maintained an active volunteer status with many organizations. She was very involved with the Catholic Women’s League and the Catholic church, The National Association of Federal Retirees, Al-Anon, a Crisis hot line, Helping Hands and Camp Hill. Born on the first of July, she spent her birthdays volunteering with Barrie’s celebrations and various fairs.
Up until her last months, collected all the “Canada Day”
swag and sported it with tremendous pride.
Paulette had an artistic flair and spent decades involved in every aspect of ceramics, her biggest hobby and passion. This gave her an opportunity to blend talent with faith and although she created many generic ceramic works, she took much joy in creating religious works. She and Joel maintained several reflection and prayer nooks in the house and outside on their property where her larger creations can be found. She was always happy to educate those who asked about techniques for painting. Paulette particularly loved working with children on painting ceramic projects.
Paulette is the dearest daughter of the late Ephrem and Yvette Gratton. She is survived by her sister, Sue (Jack Crichton), and lovingly remembered by them.
Paulette is the proud grandmother of six grandchildren:
Sarah, Jenna, Reid, Marilyn, Shae and Ethan.
